Eddy County COVID cases increased by 434 and deaths by two this week

New coronavirus cases increased 9.4% in New Mexico in the week ending Sunday as the state added 5,227 cases. The previous week had 4,776 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

New Mexico ranked 26th among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week coronavirus cases in the United States increased 12.7% from the week before, with 1,031,057 cases reported. With 0.63% of the country’s population, New Mexico had 0.51% of the country’s cases in the last week. Across the country, 44 states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.

Eddy County reported 434 cases and two deaths in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 430 cases and two deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 8,494 cases and 154 deaths.
