Celebrating Father’s Day and Juneteenth

Happy Father’s Day to everyone! Thank you to all of the great dads out there and we hope you all have a very relaxing weekend. We also wish everyone a happy Juneteenth weekend and thank Dr. Nwanne, Judge Johnson and everyone with the local chapter of the NAACP for their hard work in preparing this weekend’s celebration of freedom. Juneteenth helps commemorate the end of slavery in our country and is now a national holiday.  We were very happy to hear about two scholarships presented in Memory of Daniel Johnson, a very dedicated member of our community who tragically lost his life a few years ago. These scholarships are a great way to carry on Daniel’s memory.

The state’s “Red to Green” county-by-county system will officially be gone on July 1, according to a press release from the State of New Mexico. That means all businesses across the state may operate at 100 percent of maximum capacity (instead of 75 percent) and all limitations on mass gatherings will be gone. According to the state, independent of lifting the capacity limitation rules, facemasks will remain required for unvaccinated individuals and businesses may continue to require masks for employees or customers at their discretion.
