Pedestrian fatally hit by train in Encinitas

ENCINITAS, California – A pedestrian hit and killed a train in Encinitas on Friday.

A North Coastal Transit District Coaster train hit a person around 8:30 a.m. near La Costa Avenue overpass, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Deputy Sheriff Christopher Campbell said. The name, age and gender of the person were not disclosed.

Anyone with information on the deadly crash has been asked to call the sheriff’s department’s emergency line at 858-565-5200.
