ENCINITAS, CA — An Encinitas family has lost their home and nearly their lives after a fire Monday morning, CBS8 reported.

Around 2:30 am Monday morning, the Whites’ neighbors awoke to the sound of glass breaking. Once she realized her house was on fire, she ran outside to help, according to CBS8. She opened the door, helped find the missing boy, and then ran into the backyard to help find their dog.

A neighbor told CBS that he kicked the back fence and gate so the whole family, including their dog, could escape.

Even though everyone made it out alive, the house was completely destroyed. According to a GoFundMe page created by a neighbour, the loss was devastating because the Whites relied on income from Jody’s small sustainable clothing business, All That Apparel, which she spent from home.
