The initial investigation indicated a pickup, driven by Godfrey was traveling west on New Mexico 128. For unknown reasons the pickup crossed over into oncoming traffic of the eastbound lane.
The pickup struck the left side of an eastbound semitrailer driven by an unidentified 21-year-old man. The pickup was then struck by an eastbound pickup driven by another unidentified man who police said was 40 years old.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported by emergency medical services to a hospital in Kermit, Texas. The driver of the pickup was uninjured, the release read.
