David Silva, 39, is charged with assault with intent to rape, sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14 and other crimes. Silva did not plead guilty to nine crimes on Thursday.
In July 2020, a 30-year-old woman told the North Coast Sheriff’s Station that her dance teacher had been harassed by the now closed Callahan Art Institute from the age of 12 until she was 17 years old.

The Sheriff’s Child Abuse Unit said it had identified three more victims during the investigation. The researchers found that girls were attacked in dance studios, dance competitions and households throughout San Diego between 2005 and 2014.
Sheriff’s child abuse detectives believe there may be more victims and witnesses.

Silvas was arrested on Tuesday at his Vista home and is being held on Vista bail against $ 100,000. He is facing a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison if convicted, Deputy District Attorney Peter Estes told City News Service.
