Encinitas Shadow Surfer: Photo Of The Day

ENCINITAS, CA – Patch reader and Encinitas resident Katy Brown took this picture of a surfer in Encinitas.

“Marvel cartoon characters are usually heroes who, after saving lives, need some well-deserved wave time,” Brown said. “Our local ‘Shadow Surfer’ … is Dr. Iain MacEwan, an experienced local surfer and physician who between patients spends his lunch time getting wet! So back to saving lives.”

Brown added that she loves the image because “the swirl of water against the silhouette-like surfer figure creates a mysterious contrast and beautiful flow of movement at the same time.”
