Eddy County fire units responded to a tank battery fire south of Carlsbad Sunday night, according to Eddy County Fire Service (ECFS) Direcctor Josh Mack and dispatch records from the Regional Emergency Dispatch Authority (REDA).
Mack confirmed the fire was off Buck Jackson Road and REDA logs indicated units from ECFS, Happy Valley, Joel, Loving, Malaga, Otis and Riverside received calls regarding the fire starting at 6:59 p.m. until 8:07 p.m.

Per REDA logs, units responded to calls of smoke and the tank battery fire along a wide stretch of Buck Jackson Road ranging from the 1300 block to the 1600 block.
The same logs reported the fire was out during the nearly one-hour time frame when units were called.
No additional information on the fire was released Monday morning by Mack or other ECFS officials.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Midland, Texas said no lighting strikes were recorded south of Carlsbad Sunday night.
