ENCINITAS, CA – If you’re planning on having a Memorial Day BBQ on the beach, beware: The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazard Statement for Encinitas and the San Diego coast beginning Sunday at 2pm. to Tuesday at 23:00.

5 to 8 foot surf is expected, along with a high risk of dangerous rip currents. Winds of 16 mph are forecast Monday in Encinitas, so if you’re heading to the beach, grab your rock picnic blankets and stay out of the water.

Other than that, Monday should be warm and partly cloudy. In Encinitas, an increase of 67 degrees and 50% cloud cover is expected, according to Accuweather.
