ENCINITAS, CA – With the winter storm, a wave has appeared along the coast of Carlsbad, Encinitas and San Diego County, but tourists are advised to stay away from all beaches and bays due to the large number of bacteria, according to the San Diego County Department of Health and Welfare.
Swimming and surfing are not recommended for 72 hours after the rain, with beach advisories in place along the entire San Diego coast.
“We should avoid contact with water such as swimming, skiing and diving during rainy season for 72 hours after a rain,” said the DEHQ. Rainwater that comes from canals, creeks, rivers and lakes may cause illness, according to the department’s spokesperson.
