Suspected dodger arrested in Encinitas

ENCINITAS, CA – A suspected prowler was arrested this week after he was spotted hiding in a yard in the Cardiff community of Encinitas, authorities said.

A woman called 911 shortly before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when she reportedly saw a man walking through the side fence of her home in the 2100 block of Oxford Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

When deputies arrived, they saw a truck driving away. The driver was speeding and running stop signs, according to the sheriff’s department. Deputies pulled over the driver, identified as Darren Amador, 51, in the 600 block of Lomas Santa Fe Drive in Solana Beach. He was booked into the Vista Detention Center on suspicion of jaywalking.

Authorities believe Amador, who they say has a similar appearance, may be linked to other violent incidents in Cardiff in recent months.

Anyone with information about this incident and who believes they may be a victim is asked to call the North Shore Sheriff’s Station at 760-966-3500. Tips can remain anonymous by calling San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
