Pedestrian Deadly Struck While Crossing Street In Encinitas

ENCINITAS, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a pickup truck Monday in Encinitas, authorities said.

The man was crossing the street in the 1300 block of Encinitas Boulevard when a vehicle hit him shortly before 6 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The 79-year-old man, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene, sheriff’s Sgt. Rob Siegfried said. The truck driver was not injured.

Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be factors in the collision, Siegfried said. This accident is under investigation.
