Hurricane Kay could bring showers, storms and winds to Encinitas

ENCINITAS, CA – While scorching temperatures continue to affect California, weather officials said a hurricane off the coast of Mexico will help end the worst heat wave on record by the weekend in San Diego County.

The weakening of Hurricane Kay will not hit the county directly, but it could bring light winds, heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms to the region this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Hazardous boating conditions are also expected in coastal waters around San Diego.

“Strong gusty easterly winds will prevail Friday morning into the evening with increasing showers and isolated thunderstorms Friday night and Friday into Saturday,” forecasters said.
