ENCINITAS, CA — In honor of Veterans Day 2022 for active duty members of the U.S. military and veterans, restaurants in Encinitas and across San Diego County are offering free and discounted meals.
Veterans Day, a day to honor current and former military personnel, is Friday. Patch has compiled these local deals for veterans and a complete list of California restaurants that give back to veterans who have passed through the San Diego area.
The festival originated in 1919 as an anti-war day to commemorate the one year anniversary of the end of World War I. The 11th of November is very important because the fighting between the Allies and Germany ended at 11:00 on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, according to the American Legion Auxiliary.

How do you show appreciation to a soldier?
If you see someone wearing a military uniform, stop and say thank you, and shake his hand. It’s a simple thing to do but it means a lot to them. In the same way, if you see someone wearing a hat or shirt that says veteran (of any war) on it, stop and thank him for the service he has done.
How do you appreciate our soldiers? I really appreciate your service and dedication. Thank you for your service! I’m sure it comes with a lot of sacrifice and I thank you and your family every day. Words are not enough to express the gratitude I hold in my heart for our veterans.
