ENCINITAS, CA — Need to get your dog licensed in Encinitas? San Diego Humane Society has partnered with a new dog licensing provider.
Starting Monday, all new dog licenses for Encinitas residents and other residents within the Humane Society’s jurisdiction will be issued through DocuPet, the organization announced. Current licenses with the Humane Society’s previous license provider PetHub will remain active until they expire.
DocuPet is a pet profile, lost pet and licensing platform.

DocuPet offers a pet identification and reunification program through its pet licensing and the complimentary HomeSafe 24/7 lost pet service. DocuPet tags are assigned a unique code on the back, which is linked to a pet’s secure online profile.
Pet owners can create lost pet reports as soon as they realize their pet is missing, according to the Humane Society. In addition, DocuPet’s dispatch staff is available 24/7 to reunite lost pets with their families.

“We are thrilled to offer our residents the added simplicity and benefits that come with DocuPet,” said Humane Law Enforcement Chief Bill Ganley. “DocuPet is aligned with our mission to provide safe and happy homes for all pets. We are excited for dog owners to utilize this program to help protect their own pets and all pets in -communities that SDHS serves.”
Each DocuPet tag is equipped with the free HomeSafe 24/7 lost pet service and serves as an official license.
Residents within the Humane Society’s jurisdiction can choose a standard tag or upgrade and choose from hundreds of designer tag styles online. Users can also design their own label with a customization tool.
The Humane Society’s jurisdiction includes Carlsbad, Del Mar, El Cajon, Encinitas, Escondido, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Poway, San Diego, San Marcos, Santee, Solana Beach, Vista and Oceanside.
“We are very proud to launch in San Diego in an effort to increase pet identification and reunification services for all residents,” said DocuPet CEO Grant Goodwin.
