ENCINITAS, CA – The access road and parking lot for Beacon Beach is scheduled to reopen Thursday after being closed for weeks due to a reactivated landslide, the city of Encinitas has announced.
A historic landslide reactivated on May 2, creating visible cracks in the existing slope and damaging the access path from the downhill parking lot to Beacon Beach in the Encinitas community of Leucadia.
Since then, the city and Scripps Institution of Oceanography have monitored and evaluated the bluff and parking lot of Beacon’s Beach.

Preparations to repair the road began last week, and repairs are scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, according to the city.
