Xcel Energy reports power outage impacts around a thousand

A power outage impacted more 1,000 Carlsbad area residents Monday around 12 p.m., said a spokesperson for Xcel Energy.

Wes Reeves said 1,138 customers lost power when electricity flow was interrupted to a single circuit at the Fiesta Substation.

“We’re investigating the cause. I don’t know how long it will take to re-energize that circuit,” he said.

Reeves said the outage impacted Xcel customers southeast of Carlsbad.
