Human remains found south of Malaga in 2020 were identified as 43-year-old Brandi Fernandez, according to an autopsy report.
Fernandez’s skeletal remains were found in April of last year by hikers inside an arroyo in a rural area of Eddy County, read the autopsy report written by the Office of the Medical Investigator at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque.
The autopsy determined Fernandez died from a gunshot wound to the head. Her death was reported the result of a homicide.

Her death was investigated by the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, read a news release from Eddy County CrimeStoppers.

“A reward up to $4,000 will be offered for any information that leads to a suspect and or arrest of a suspect,” read the news release.

Deputies respond to unconscious man in Loving
In a press release, Eddy County Sheriff Mark Cage said deputies were called to a scene around 2:07 a.m. Thursday to an injured man who was unconscious but breathing.
The man’s name was not listed in the press release and was transported to Carlsbad Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
